Do you find yourself itching your body as soon as you get out of the shower? You are not alone if you are experiencing this issue. A slight irritation, particularly after a hot shower in the dry winter months, is nothing to concern.

However, if the itch lingers or makes you afraid to enter the water again, you should investigate the cause of the itch. Throughout this content, we will look at the reasons for itching after a shower and what you may do to relieve the discomfort.

Therefore, before you want to buy aromatherapy oils online, let’s begin!

    Change the Shower Routine

Do not take a shower in boiling water. Use lukewarm water that is pleasant to the touch. Reduce the length of your shower. Avoid taking several showers throughout the day. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers on your skin. Instead, use a moderate exfoliation agent.

    Switch Soaps

Soaps and cleansers with harsh chemicals, scents, or menthol should avoid. Choose a gentler soap formulated for delicate skin. You may also substitute bath salts, herbal soaps, or natural cleansers like fuller’s earth for your standard soap.

It is critical to select hypoallergenic products that are appropriate for your specific skin type. You may also use the best aromatherapy diffuser.

    Towel This Right

After a shower, avoid rubbing moist skin. This might cause your skin’s protective layer to pull off, producing inflammation. Apply a clean towel and gently pat your skin dry. If you suspect that you are allergic to the detergent used to clean your towel, change it.

    Moisturise

After you get out of the shower, apply a moisturizer all over your body. This will replace the skin’s lost moisture and assist in alleviating inflammation. To increase the calming impact, chill your moisturizer in the refrigerator.

You might also use body oils or petroleum jelly before getting into the shower. It’ll form a protective layer on your skin and keep the skin barrier intact when washing.

    Formulations for itching relief

To relieve itching after a bath, apply a cooling substance such as calamine lotion. If the inflammation is unbearable, you can try over-the-counter corticosteroid creams. However, if your irritation is intolerable, you should see a doctor.

    Skin Condition Treatment

If your itching is caused by a skin disease such as eczema or aquagenic pruritus, your doctor is the best person to diagnose and recommend a treatment plan. Thus, you can treat your skin with ease.

Can Itchy Skin Be A Sign Of Something Serious?

While itching skin after a shower is a regular occurrence, it can sometimes indicate significant health problems, as mentioned below.

    Polycythemia Vera (PV)

PV is a disorder that causes the bone marrow to overproduce red blood cells. As a result, the blood becomes thicker and more prone to clotting. As a result, the risk of a heart attack or heart failure rises.

Itchiness after a warm bath is a typical symptom, as are headaches, shortness of breath, weariness, and so on. To treat irritation caused by PV, your doctor may recommend light therapy.
