You might be a stickler for keeping your shoes clean. You wear them out and then wipe away any smudges, dirt, and grime when you get home. But have you considered what might be growing in your shoes?

Fungus and bacteria thrive in the interiors of your shoes. This is because our feet become hot and sweaty, creating an ideal environment for these microbes to thrive.

Keeping your shoes clean should include disinfecting them as well. So, before you look for handcrafted Italian leather shoes, let’s start!

Soak the Shoes in Proper Solution

Examine the insoles of your shoes if they smell bad. If they’re looking a little dirty, give them a good scrubbing, making sure to get right into the dirt-attracting heel and toe areas. Before you attack these soiled areas, soak your shoes in an anti-bacterial/anti-fungal solution.

The solution need to be available at your local pharmacy, shoe store, or sporting goods store. As directed, mix the solution with water and soak them overnight before thoroughly cleaning them.

Disinfect the Using Plain Old Vinegar

White vinegar is one of the most effective anti-fungal and anti-bacterial substances. And you can find them in your home. Pour vinegar directly into your shoes for a quick clean, or make a solution of vinegar and warm water in a bucket.

And soak your stinky, dirty shoes in it for a while. Remember that vinegar is acidic. So, check the materials of your shoes to ensure they won’t be destroyed by the vinegar.

Remove the old vinegar and store them in your shoe cupboard until you’re ready to store them again when you’re ready to wear your shoes,

    Use the Baking Soda

When the best luxury men’s shoes are clean but you’re concerned that they haven’t been properly disinfected, pour some baking soda into them. And keep them for a day or two.

Baking soda is a low-cost miracle that absorbs all moisture that breeds bacteria and fungus inside your shoes. Shake the baking soda out when it’s time to put your shoes back on.

Baking soda can also be used to make a paste that will effectively clean and disinfect your shoes. Another way to use baking soda to disinfect and deodorize your shoes is to make a pillow out of it that you can keep in your shoes when not wearing them.

When you’re ready to wear your shoes, remove the baking soda pillows and store them in your shoe cupboard until you’re ready to store them again.

Keep the Shoes in the Sun

Clean air and sunshine are natural enemies of the fungus and bacteria that cause odor in your shoes. If you’ve washed your shoes, let them dry in the sun. This will kill any microbes that were not killed by regular washing.

If your shoes are clean and you want to ensure that they remain disinfected, place them upright against a wall or window sill on a sunny day for perfectly disinfected shoes. As an alternative to natural sunlight, technological progress has resulted in the development of UV shoe sanitizers.
